Cova Software, a cannabis POS system, and Sapphire Risk Advisory Group, security consultants for cannabis businesses, took us back to the 80s at a totally rad, MJBizCon afterparty! “VIP Members” were instructed to arrive at The Doyle in true, 80’s Glam fashion on November 16, 2022.
80s Party Features and Attractions
A live band played some 80’s classics that helped set the vibe. A burlesque dancer pirouetted in the air as people showed off their rusty Dirty Dancing moves to some wicked tunes. Additionally, arcade machines allowed people to jump back in time and play games such as NBA Jam, Donkey Kong, Galaga, and Ms. Pack Man. Freestyle games such as Pin Ball and Ski-ball were also available if playing against an AI cramped up your style.
Guests vegged out by the fire with a pizza truck that customized everyone’s order. Was the fresh pizza too hot? Cova and Sapphire Risk had their guests covered and the party also featured a taco ice cream stand and an open bar that served 80’s themed cocktails and CBD-infused drinks. Light up ice cubes donned each glass to ensure no drink was left behind.
80s Party Costumes and Attire
A mini-van provided guests with a cozy photo opportunity to capture their picture-perfect outfits. If the line was too long, stag-goers and groups could opt for an open photo booth that provided an endless array of 80’s themed props. Shutter shades and balloon-inflated instruments allowed guests to tap into their inner Bon Jovi and rock their closeted Guns n’ Roses persona.
The night ended with a show-stopping costume contest. Finalists included golden tracksuits, bleach blonde mullets, and back-breaking moves from devoted contestants. Ultimately, Katharine Baxter from Sapphire Risk won the bedazzled, first-place boom box! Her neon leotard and leggings unanimously won the crowd over.
